Do you want to hike more, explore local hiking trails, and make friends who share a love for the outdoors and being active? This Hiking Group might be perfect for you!
The group will meet once a week for 6 weeks to explore a new area with a scenic hike. Hikes are between 2-5 miles and will take 2-3 hours on average.
What to bring:
- A good pair of hiking boots/sneakers
- Water
- High energy snacks
- Sunscreen and bug spray
- First aid kit
- A map, compass, or GPS (this can be on your phone)
- Change of socks
- Extra layers/rain gear
Notes:
- Hikes may need to be canceled depending on the weather
- Hikes may end before or after the scheduled time, depending on the group's pace
Green Mountain Passport:
If you are 62 years or older and a Vermont resident, or a Vermont resident who is a veteran who has been honorably discharged from active duty in the US armed services, you are eligible for a lifetime day entry pass into State Parks called the Green Mountain Passport. Good for lifetime free day entry. The cost is $2 and available only from your local Town Clerk's office.

Registration Information
- 1. Online registration is available with a credit card (a processing fee of $2 or 3.5 %, whichever is higher, plus 10 cents is added). Using this option, your balance is paid in full, and the person is enrolled.
- 2. If a non-refundable deposit is available, it can be paid for online. However, the remaining balance is due before the registered person can attend. Some programs or camps have a specific date that the balance has to be paid.
- 3. Offline registration is available at the Recreation Dept. with a check or cash. You have to come in to do this. Please be sure to create a Household Account online before coming in if you don't have one already.
- 4. Registrations are NOT accepted over the phone or by email.
- 5. Online registrations close the night before the start date of the program or on Thursday evening if the program starts over the weekend.
- 6. Registration Deadlines: if a deadline is posted on the registration page for a program, this is to ensure that there are enough participants to offer the program. The Dept. works with other Depts. to be able to offer programs.
- 7. No registrations are accepted after the second meeting of a program, or after the first day of a camp, or after the first day of a sports program practice.
- 8. If a program is Full, register for the waiting list using the Online Payment Option. No fee is charged.
- 9. Program numbers are checked one week before the start date to see if the minimum number is met.
