ChatGPT & CoPilot: Your Work Buddies for Everyday Tasks

Are you part of a nonprofit or small business frantically juggling flaming torches while riding a unicycle, a professional yearning to offload boring, soul-crushing tasks, or just a curious human wondering if AI can help you craft a diplomatic note to your neighbor saying “your dog is cute, but I’m sick of poopies in my yard”? 

In this 90-minute course, you’ll meet two GenAI-powered tools—ChatGPT and Copilot, to learn how to construct effective prompts, check out a few useful applications, and have some hands-on practice. But first, let’s answer the big question: What is GenAI? Simply, GenAI is a type of artificial intelligence that can create or revise content. Think of it as a digital buddy that helps brainstorm, write, research, and streamline work—so you can get back to the important stuff, like figuring out which of your Tupperware lids still have matching containers.

Who Should Attend:
  • No prior experience with AI is required! This class is perfect for anyone curious about the potential of AI to make work easier and more efficient.
  • Adults 18 and up.
What to Bring:
  • A Computer with internet access and Copilot and/or ChatGPT tested in advance. The computer must be fully charged as power outlets are limited. 
  • Prior Computer Knowledge. This course assumes you can navigate Microsoft Word (or equivalent), an internet browser, and basic computer functions.
  • Curiosity! Think about projects or tasks you do for work or at home where you've thought, "I'd love an assistant to do this.". If you can't think of anything, don't worry - the instructor will have some exercises for practice.

Instructor: Deb Helfrich
Bio: Deb is a Proposal Services Director for a large consulting firm; she leads an incredible team of editors, writers, proposal coordinators, graphic designers, and document formats. Deb’s sense of humor, enthusiastic teaching style, and ability to work with a wide range of students are what clients seem to like about her. Teaching is not new to Deb; for nearly three decades, she taught writing and served as a writing coach.

Registration Information
  • All Registrations are done online and there are two payment options at Checkout.
  • 1. ONLINE PAYMENT OPTION- is with a credit card (processing fee of $2 or 3.5 %, whichever is higher, plus 10 cents is added). Using this option your balance is paid in full and the person is enrolled.
  • 2. OFFLINE PAYMENT OPTION- is with a check or cash. Using this option, you have to drop off payment at the Rec. Dept., or use the drop box at the back entrance to the Town Hall Building- 7900 Williston Rd.
  • NOTE: When using the Offline Payment Option, the person is not enrolled until a check or cash is received and processed.
  • The Offline Payment Option closes a week before the start of the program.
  • When the Offline Payment Option is closed you can come into the Rec. Office to register and pay before the deadline.
  • Please create a household account before coming in if you don't have one already.
  • Online Payment Option closes the night before the start date of the program or on Thursday evening if the program starts over the weekend.
  • Program numbers are checked one week before the start date to see if the minimum number is met.
  • No registrations are accepted after the second meeting of the program.
  • If a program is Full, register for the waiting list using the Online Payment Option. No fee will be charged.
  • Williston Residents can apply for Financial Assistance if needed. See Link Below
