Creative Sweet Treats, Age 8-16

This program is currently unavailable. Click here to view all of our current programs.

A child shows their food creation, a beach scene with gummy sharks, and gummy bears floating in the water.

Candy, cupcakes, and desserts are the features of this program. Ever tried to make your own gummy worms for a pudding dirt cup? Rice Crispies treats in the shape of musical instruments or sports equipment? A forest or beach scene on a cake? Participants will be given an example of a finished product and then let loose to create their personal version.

Notes:
  • If your child has long hair, we recommend it be tied back.
  • Closed-toe shoes are required because the floor gets slippery.
  • Please make us aware of any dietary needs or restrictions (Allergies, gluten-free, vegetarian, etc.)

Instructor: Lynn Brown
Bio: Lynn has been teaching cooking and food systems recreationally for over 12 years.  Her degree in agriculture is the basis for her love of food, gardening, science, and nature.  She is the Garden Coordinator at WCS and Jr. Iron Chef VT coach whose team just won the Lively Local Award at this year's competition.  Lynn enjoys introducing kids to food through experiences and tastings.  She incorporates food system knowledge with games and lets kids explore flavor components with unique activities.  Her philosophy is that the kitchen should be a fun place to make mistakes as well as memories.
