Level Progressions - Information sheet below on the skills children must demonstrate to progress to different levels in skiing or snowboarding.

Program Information:

The program is for grades K-8.
(Kindergarten children must be transported and have an adult on the mountain with them)

The program meets in January and February from 2:40-4:30 pm on Wednesdays at Cochran's Ski Area.
The grades 1-8 program meets for 7 weeks.
The Kindergarten Program meets for 6 weeks.
The emphasis is on learning to ski or snowboard through weekly lessons. The program is for participants who wish to learn or improve their skills.
Note: All participants are required to be in and take a weekly lesson.
This program is NOT a field trip of the school, so NO Medication, Epi-pens, or others are sent by the school. Your child needs to have and bring with them to Cochran’s what they need to be successful in the program.

Note: The lodge will be open for snacks between 3:45-4:15 pm only each Wednesday for the Learn to Ski/Ride participants.
Bus transportation is available to Williston students in grades 1-8 at ABS and WCS.  Buses leave the schools at 2:15 pm.
Transportation is back to WCS only, leaving Cochran's at 5:00 pm. Buses arrive at WCS by 5:15 pm.
Parents picking up their children, who took the bus, at the mountain must do so before 4:35 pm to check them out.

NOTE: Children who are registered for With Transportation are responsible for the following:
  • For getting on all winter gear at school with help from parent volunteers
  • For finding their equipment at the mountain, putting it on, and going to their Level sign.
  • For knowing whether they are taking the bus or being picked up at the end of the program day
  • For those taking the bus, returning their equipment to the Truck/Trailer at the end of each program day.
If this is overwhelming for your child, you should consider registering WITHOUT transportation or picking up at the end of each day at the mountain.

Student Instructors
Students will be invited to be student instructors for the program by the Lead Instructor staff.
They will be given a registration form for parents to fill out and return with the $30 registration fee. Checks are to be made payable to "Williston Recreation".
Form and payment can be returned to the school's Main Office or Recreation. Dept. (A drop box behind Town Hall- 7900 Williston Rd can be used)
There will be Student Instructor trainings in December. Student Instructor Training is the last two Wednesdays before the school break.

Parent Volunteers Needed
The success of the program depends on adult volunteers!

Parents are needed regularly, each week, and even occasionally, to help out at the schools with getting children ready and onto the buses, at the mountain with supervision at the lodge, fire pit, and teaching lessons. All help is welcome!

Equipment Loan
Note: Equipment Loan is for equipment used during the program. If you plan to use equipment outside the program dates, you must consider renting from a Ski/Ride company. The loaned equipment is older, donated equipment, and is not meant for continuous use outside the program.
If your children need equipment for the program, you MUST first sign them up for the program and then sign up for a fitting night.
You only need to sign up a parent of the family for one Fitting Day & Time Block. Then bring all your children to that day and time to be fitted.
Click the link above to be brought to the site to sign up.
Be sure to complete the sign-up by clicking on the Online Payment option- No Fee will be charged.
You will pay for the equipment loan the night of the fitting- $25 per child- Check or exact Cash is accepted.
Only two (2) Fitting Nights will be held; after that, you will need to rent equipment from a ski/board shop.
All loaned equipment must be brought to a Ski Shop to have a Safety Check and be tuned for your child. These are not done by the Department and must be done before your child uses the equipment for their safety in the program. There is a fee for this to be done.
