Read about the different themes for each week of Art Camp below:
Nature Drawing Camp (June 23-27, 8:30a-12:00p)
Artists will explore outdoor art activities with sketchbooks. Students will practice observation skills and experiment with dry media sketching and watercolor techniques. We will also venture into some playful nature-inspired solar printmaking, brushes, and weavings.
Comic and Drawing Camp (July 7-11, 8:30a-12:00p)
Storytelling artists will draw their own imaginative character designs, storyboarding, and comic strips. We will explore different cell designs and ink techniques. We will be inspired by comics and graphic novel artists for inspiration at the local library.
Animals in 3D and Stop Motion (July 14-18, 8:30a-12:00p)
Campers will create 3D creatures and try their hand at storyboards for stop motion animation and design feature movie posters. Students will learn hands-on the various animator job roles, planning, design thinking, collaboration, and presentation skills. We will also explore hands-on zoetropes, thaumatropes, and flip books group activities.
Book Making and Painting(July 28-August 1, 8:30a-12:00p)
We will explore mixed-media painting techniques for lantern making and collaborative paper to use for our handmade artist books. Artists will walk away with one-of-a-kind art to decorate their rooms.
Note:
For all art camps please dress for messes, pack snacks, and bring sunscreen for outdoor art breaks.
