Art Camp2

Read about the different themes for each week of Art Camp below:

Comic and Drawing Camp (July 8-12, 8:30a-12:00p)
Storytelling artists will learn new ways to draw their superhero characters from their comics and flipbooks. We will use artistic thinking practices to push their drawing talents to a new level. Campers will learn different cell design, drawing, inking, and color techniques just like a real graphic novel illustrator.  They will be inspired by the Surrealism movement, Dav Pilkey books, as well as comics from DC to Disney.  Comics are a great opportunity to intersect art and literacy to engage all readers!

Animals in 3D and Stop Motion (July 15-19, 8:30a-12:00p)
Campers will create 3D creatures and try their hand at storyboards for stop motion animation and design feature movie posters.  We will explore how color theory and geometric and organic shapes can help set a mood for art with real-world connections.

Robotic Sculpture and Printmaking (July 22-26, 8:30a-12:00p)
Saving the world one robot at a time, campers will use artistic thinking to create their own custom robotic monster sculptures from recycled materials and paint. Campers will experiment with abstract printmaking through monoprints, collagraphs, and custom handmade stamps - robot parts are optional!

Book Making, Painting and Drawing (July 29-August 2, 8:30a-12:00p)
Artists will learn a variety of book-making techniques to create one-of-a-kind art journals for self-expression through drawing, writing, and mixed media experiments. We will explore color and design with paint and mixed media.  We will take our books outdoors for some plein-air field sketching as well!
