Strength does not come from what you can do; it comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn’t. Like a well-aimed arrow, life requires direction and the courage to let go.
In this camp, your child will become part of a community that has spanned the course of human history; its presence directly impacting cultures across the world. This camp will teach your child the fundamentals of archery, including the description of equipment, and the proper technique to safely and successfully loose arrows. There will be guided target shooting, but also games designed to provide a challenging and fun way to hone accuracy in the hopes that, working together, we unlock the inner Robin Hood in all of us!
Instructor: Fred Murray
Bio: As a child, Fred was a latch-key kid with an overactive imagination, so he spent much of his time in the woods, fashioning crude bows out of maple saplings and string, pretending to be Robin Hood. But life happens, and he got away from Archery while he started a family and focused on establishing his career. Along that journey, he was an after-school & summer camp counselor for the YMCA, working with children in grades K-8. Later, he was inspired by the show Arrow to pick up the bow again. Now he tries to incorporate his love of archery and nature into everyday life. He enjoys teaching others and working with children, and he hopes that he can help awaken a love of Archery and help others to feel the same thrill that he feels every time he hits his mark.
