Tai Chi Intro, Age 50+ - Tai Chi Intro The ancient art of Tai Chi has become increasingly popular as people are finding that it improves balance, increases mindfulness, and relaxes the mind and body. Each class will present sequences of movements derived from the Sun style which is slow, smooth, and upright in posture making it especially accessible to those over 50 or with impaired mobility. You will learn to wave your hands in the clouds, repel wild monkeys, and separate the earth from the sky. What power! What fun! Accessible Yoga, Age 18+ - Accessible Yoga Join this Vinyasa Yoga Flow program appropriate for everyone from beginners to experienced practitioners! Classes will begin with a brief mindfulness meditation, then move into an easy practice that can be done on a yoga mat, in a chair, or both. You will practice moving your bodies with your breath, and move into some classic yoga shapes that can be done on a yoga mat or while sitting on a chair. The program will end with a brief wind-down meditation. No experience necessary! The instructor will demonstrate each shape of the sequence, you'll move through each sequence slowly so you have time to find the shape that works for your body. Dog Training- Basics, Age 18+ - Essentials/Basics- S2 Dog/Puppy Essentials: Basic Training and Social Skills This class shows you how to have a happy, confident, well-behaved dog. It consists of: practical straight-up obedience (don’t get dragged down the street, have a dog that comes when called, etc.), life skills (don’t jump on my friends, chill out, don’t chew on me, etc.), and understanding how your dog communicates.Along with a simple 4-step approach for teaching your dog almost anything, you'll also get a course booklet and weekly training guides; force-free training; free email/phone support after the class ends; and a student-focused instructor with 20+ years’ experience teaching people and dogs (and a sense of humor).There are two registration options for this class:Option 1: Register with your dog This registration reserves a spot in class for one dog and up to two adult household members (children are permitted to observe only; please contact the instructor in advance). Option 2: Register Without a DogThis registration is for one person, or up to two household members, who would like to attend the class without a dog. It’s ideal if your dog isn’t a good candidate for a group class, but you still want to work on training at home with support and information. Drivers Ed- Teens, Age 15-17 - Driver's Ed- Spring Epic Driving focuses on defensive driving techniques, including crash avoidance, situational awareness, zone control, mindful driving, and developing good driving habits. This course includes 30 hours of engaging, differentiated, and responsive classroom activities and weekly, individually scheduled, behind-the-wheel lessons consisting of 45 minutes of instruction and 45 minutes of observation. This course is for teenagers ages 15-17 with a valid Vermont learner’s permit. Attendance in all scheduled class sessions is required for successful course completion. Please do not register for the program if there are dates you cannot attend.Driving appointments will be scheduled once a week. Drivers Ed- Teens, Age 15-17 - Driver's Ed- Spring Epic Driving focuses on defensive driving techniques, including crash avoidance, situational awareness, zone control, mindful driving, and developing good driving habits. This course includes 30 hours of engaging, differentiated, and responsive classroom activities and weekly, individually scheduled, behind-the-wheel lessons consisting of 45 minutes of instruction and 45 minutes of observation. This course is for teenagers ages 15-17 with a valid Vermont learner’s permit. Attendance in all scheduled class sessions is required for successful course completion. Please do not register for the program if there are dates you cannot attend.Driving appointments will be scheduled once a week. Dog Training- Basics, Age 18+ - Essentials/Basics- S2 Dog/Puppy Essentials: Basic Training and Social Skills This class shows you how to have a happy, confident, well-behaved dog. It consists of: practical straight-up obedience (don’t get dragged down the street, have a dog that comes when called, etc.), life skills (don’t jump on my friends, chill out, don’t chew on me, etc.), and understanding how your dog communicates.Along with a simple 4-step approach for teaching your dog almost anything, you'll also get a course booklet and weekly training guides; force-free training; free email/phone support after the class ends; and a student-focused instructor with 20+ years’ experience teaching people and dogs (and a sense of humor).There are two registration options for this class:Option 1: Register with your dog This registration reserves a spot in class for one dog and up to two adult household members (children are permitted to observe only; please contact the instructor in advance). Option 2: Register Without a DogThis registration is for one person, or up to two household members, who would like to attend the class without a dog. It’s ideal if your dog isn’t a good candidate for a group class, but you still want to work on training at home with support and information. The VT State Park Hiking Group might be perfect for you!The group will meet once a week for 6 weeks to explore a new state park with a scenic hike. Hikes will increase mileage and difficulty throughout the program. Each class will start with a brief mindfulness meditation, then move into an easy Vinyasa Flow practice. You will practice moving your body with your breath, flow a sequence of yoga shapes both on the ground and standing, then you will settle on the ground for some longer stretches. Dog Training- Basics, Age 18+ - Essentials/Basics- S2 Dog/Puppy Essentials: Basic Training and Social Skills This class shows you how to have a happy, confident, well-behaved dog. It consists of: practical straight-up obedience (don’t get dragged down the street, have a dog that comes when called, etc.), life skills (don’t jump on my friends, chill out, don’t chew on me, etc.), and understanding how your dog communicates.Along with a simple 4-step approach for teaching your dog almost anything, you'll also get a course booklet and weekly training guides; force-free training; free email/phone support after the class ends; and a student-focused instructor with 20+ years’ experience teaching people and dogs (and a sense of humor).There are two registration options for this class:Option 1: Register with your dog This registration reserves a spot in class for one dog and up to two adult household members (children are permitted to observe only; please contact the instructor in advance). Option 2: Register Without a DogThis registration is for one person, or up to two household members, who would like to attend the class without a dog. Drivers Ed- Teens, Age 15-17 - Driver's Ed- Spring Epic Driving focuses on defensive driving techniques, including crash avoidance, situational awareness, zone control, mindful driving, and developing good driving habits. This course includes 30 hours of engaging, differentiated, and responsive classroom activities and weekly, individually scheduled, behind-the-wheel lessons consisting of 45 minutes of instruction and 45 minutes of observation. This course is for teenagers ages 15-17 with a valid Vermont learner’s permit. Attendance in all scheduled class sessions is required for successful course completion. VT State Park Hiking Group, Age 18+ - VT State Park Hiking Group - Spring Do you want to hike more, explore local state parks, and make friends who share a love for the outdoors and being active? The VT State Park Hiking Group might be perfect for you!The group will meet once a week for 6 weeks to explore a new state park with a scenic hike. Hikes will increase mileage and difficulty throughout the program. VT State Park Hiking Group, Age 18+ - VT State Park Hiking Group - Spring Do you want to hike more, explore local state parks, and make friends who share a love for the outdoors and being active? The VT State Park Hiking Group might be perfect for you!The group will meet once a week for 6 weeks to explore a new state park with a scenic hike. Hikes will increase mileage and difficulty throughout the program. Dog Training- Basics, Age 18+ - Essentials/Basics- S2 Dog/Puppy Essentials: Basic Training and Social Skills This class shows you how to have a happy, confident, well-behaved dog. It consists of: practical straight-up obedience (don’t get dragged down the street, have a dog that comes when called, etc.), life skills (don’t jump on my friends, chill out, don’t chew on me, etc.), and understanding how your dog communicates.Along with a simple 4-step approach for teaching your dog almost anything, you'll also get a course booklet and weekly training guides; force-free training; free email/phone support after the class ends; and a student-focused instructor with 20+ years’ experience teaching people and dogs (and a sense of humor).There are two registration options for this class:Option 1: Register with your dog This registration reserves a spot in class for one dog and up to two adult household members (children are permitted to observe only; please contact the instructor in advance). Option 2: Register Without a DogThis registration is for one person, or up to two household members, who would like to attend the class without a dog. It’s ideal if your dog isn’t a good candidate for a group class, but you still want to work on training at home with support and information. Safe @ Home- "Home Alone" Training, 4th-6th - Safe@Home - Spring Safe@Home by Safe Sitter® is a 90-minute after school program that teaches students how to practice safe habits, how to prevent unsafe situations, and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. This is a introductory level program to prepare students to care for themselves when parents are away for short periods of time.Students are also introduced to the Safe Sitter® First Aid Chart and they will learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses. Jazzercise Cardio Sculpt Programs, Age 16+ - Jazzercise- Tues & Wed Jazzercise is for EVERYBODY!! Dance, sweat, and say hello to your favorite workout with easy-to-follow dance aerobic moves, strength training, and flexibility. The Jazzercise classes are low impact, with different levels of intensity. Instructors will show you options to take it high or low with lots of energy. You decide if you need to take your cardio up a notch or two with intensity or need to work your muscles more intentionally. Use of a chair is optional.NOTE: Jazzercise classes are perfect for any age, 16+, if you want a low-impact workout to start or continue your physical wellness journey. They’re essential for keeping your body strong and moving through every season of life. The program will concentrate on developing upper and lower body strength as well as improving balance and strengthening your core. In this dementia-friendly class, participants are encouraged to work within their abilities while socializing and having fun! She is a competitive strength athlete in strongman athletics and highland games and has been teaching group fitness and cardio dance since 2014. With an MS in Health and Physical Activity, Jazmin is excited to bring accessible movement to the 55+ community as they continue to increase brain and body health. 7 years experience leading group fitness and cardio dance classes ARC Lifeguard and First Aid.
